Make your PDF mobile friendly

Mobile Friendly PDF. Guy reading something on his smartphone.

I use my phone to read. Web sites. Facebook. Kindle. You name it. I’m reading a lot of things on my phone.

Sometimes I’ll come across something a site offering a PDF of some kind. As usual, my first inclination is to read it on my phone.

*sigh*

Apparently the default is to create PDFs for the desktop, laptop, tablet, or the printer. They rarely consider what the PDF will look like on a smartphone.

While it can be read with lots of zooming and sliding the document around, I end up having to return to my laptop in order to read it.

Not that there’s anything wrong with designing a PDF for a large screen, but if you want to make your message mobile (teaching, training, or stories), then consider making a mobile-friendly PDF for those who prefer reading on the go.

Here is a mobile-friendly PDF with suggested font sizes, margins, and other ideas to make it a joy to read on a smartphone.

If you do this, let me know. I’d like to read it.
